The Massachusetts Senate is poised to pass SB 2735, the omnibus bill regulating recreation vehicles (see attached copy). The most obnoxious part is the proposed prohibition of no person under the age of 14 shall operate a snow or recreation vehicle (see Section 9). As you know, the current statute permits riders under 14 if they are directly supervised by an adult (see attached Ch. 90B). I do not have to tell you how this will impact NETRA members…. But NETRA members need to tell their legislators what this age restriction means.
Please alert NETRA and tell them to contact their legislators, most especially their state senator, and tell them to oppose SB 2735. Please have the members add their personal experience …ie riding with their kids, NETRA events etc.
